Meet The PATH Award Winner: Charlene Hamann

Hi, I’m Charlene Hamann, and I’ve been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years (let’s just say I stopped counting at some point!). Nursing has been more than just a career for me — it’s truly a calling. I’ve always believed in meeting patients where they are, listening closely, and building trust through relationships.

My journey in nursing began just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, where I first stepped into clinic nursing. Over the years, I’ve worked in many areas, but I’ve found my greatest fulfillment in OB/GYN and Primary Care. These specialties allow me to support patients across many phases of life, and that continuity of care means everything to me.

Life brought changes — one of the biggest being a move to Minnesota when my husband, Ren, was transferred for work. While I’ll always miss the ocean (and my extended family back East), Minnesota has been a beautiful place to raise our family. Ren and I have been married for 31 years, and we’ve been blessed with four amazing children: Kaleigh, Emily, Ren, and my son-in-law Levi. We’re now joyfully anticipating our first grandchild next month!

More recently, I’ve grown to appreciate the opportunities that come with nursing in a corporate setting, I have appreciated my time at Boston Scientific, where I focus on work injuries and medical surveillance. This was a new area to me, but I really enjoy this part of nursing. The variety of what I do on a weekly basis makes this job exciting.
